Spotlight on U (Students)

Brian Chino, Rock Rest Elementary

What is your favorite subject in school and why?

My favorite subject is math because it feels easier for me, and I feel calm when I work on it. Math also gives me more energy.

What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever done in a school project or lesson?

In Miss Hart’s class, we did a habitat project where we built an Arctic habitat in a shoebox. We brought things from home to help make it.

In my habitat, I made an Arctic scene with a penguin sliding down a slide. I learned that polar animals use their fur to stay warm and can’t survive in hot weather. I also learned that penguins slide on their bellies, and when they want to find a mate, they bring them a perfect rock.

If you could learn any skill instantly, what would it be?

I would like to get better at reading.

Would you rather be able to talk to animals or speak and understand any language in the world?

I would rather talk to animals, and the first animal I would want to talk to is a penguin.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time, I like to play soccer and draw. My favorite position in soccer is striker, but I like playing any position. I used to play on a team, but the season finished.

What career would you like to go into?

In the future, I would like to be a soccer player. If I weren’t a soccer player, I would want to be a boxer.

What’s your favorite genre of music, favorite artist and current favorite song?

I don’t really have a favorite genre, artist or favorite song, but I do like calm music that helps me relax, like nature sounds.

What celebrity would you want to be your best friend, and why?

I would like to be friends with a soccer player like Cristiano Ronaldo because he is cool. If I had to spend a day with him, I would be really excited. We would probably play soccer, hang out, and talk.
