Spotlight on U (Staff)
What is your current role and why did you choose it?
I am the director of student support. I chose this role because I wanted to support schools in a way that centers on what students need most to create the conditions for success.
What’s your favorite thing about your current job?
My favorite thing about this role is that we focus on heart work.

What is your favorite memory at UCPS?
My favorite memory was working with my assistant principals at the Health Sciences Academy at Monroe Middle. We were one of the most high-powered and functional admin teams I’ve had the opportunity to work with. Everyone had their skills and their gifts and were willing to contribute as much as needed to the work in that school.
What's your "superpower" at work (the thing you’re known for)?
I believe my superpower would be helping my peers understand their value.
Outside of your job, what are your hobbies or interests?
I love to work out, travel, hang out with my family, read books and listen to music.
If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be and why?
I would like to have dinner with my younger self—not to change the past, but to reassure myself that everything I experienced, especially in my younger years, would turn out okay. I would tell myself I am stronger than I realize, to stay the course, and not to let fear consume me.
What’s the coolest place you’ve ever visited?
It's a tie between Bryce Canyon in Utah and Crater Lake National Park in Oregon. I am fortunate to have traveled many places, but the views there are breathtaking, and how each of these places came to be is a marvel to behold. There is so much beauty in the world and some of the most beautiful things can be observed quietly in nature.
What’s a fun fact about you that most people don’t know?
I did commercials when I was a pre-teen, including a teen pregnancy PSA (the bump was fake) that ran until adulthood. Many of my students would ask me around prom time if I did commercials because the networks would run it around that time of year.
