Dr. Andrew Houlihan presents 2026-2027 budget proposal

2026-2027 Budget Proposal

At the April 14 Board of Education meeting, Superintendent Dr. Andrew Houlihan and Chief Finance Officer Shanna McLamb presented the proposed budget for the 2026-2027 school year.

Before the presentation, Dr. Houlihan shared a high-level summary about the budget process and priorities. He also acknowledged that this is a complex recommendation due to several unknowns at the state and local levels.

The superintendent’s budget presentation includes:

  • State budget outlook
  • Local budget priorities
  • Proposed local operating budget request
  • Proposed operating capital budget request

One significant priority in the proposal is a local supplement increase for eligible certified instructional and instructional support employees. (A list of employees is included in the presentation)

The superintendent is also proposing to continue the nurse expansion initiative, as we are in year two of five, with a goal to provide a nurse in every school.

Following the presentation, the Board of Education voted unanimously to accept the proposed budget. Board members will vote to approve the budget at the May 5 meeting. The budget request will be sent to the Board of Commissioners in May.
