For over three decades, John H. Crowder dedicated his life to supporting the youth of Union County. In honor of his enduring contributions and lasting impact, the Union County Board of Education presented the John H. Crowder Service Award for May to a Forest Hills High School senior.

Bayleigh Rape, a four-year member of Student Council and current student body president, has helped organize and lead service initiatives supporting local and statewide causes.

She has worked alongside peers to raise money for Victory Junction, the North Carolina Association of Student Councils’ state charity, and helped organize a Soccer Showdown event to benefit Ground 40.

She has also participated in community outreach efforts, including Operation Christmas Child and Angel Tree, supporting families and children in need through Walter Bickett and Winchester Head Start. Through those experiences, she has learned the importance of serving others, stepping outside her comfort zone and encouraging others to do the same.

Bayleigh will attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in radiologic sciences with a concentration in radiation therapy.
