Strategic Plan

As the top-performing school district in North Carolina, Union County Public Schools (UCPS) is reaching new heights.

Over the course of the last 10 years, we have made significant academic gains, developed innovative programming and offered our students multiple college and career readiness pathways focused on their success after graduation.

We have also developed an apprentice-based teacher pipeline program, increased mental health supports and advanced physical safety efforts for students and staff.

Now, it is time to build on these efforts and plan for the future. I am proud to share Strategic Plan 2026 - 2031, our new five-year strategic plan that will move UCPS forward. We took time to redefine our mission and vision and worked to identify focus areas that are relevant, timely and that will lead to even more higher student outcomes.

I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the development of our plan. Through surveys and collaborative discussions, we received valuable input and feedback from employees, students, parents, community members and our Board of Education. Their perspectives helped to identify and shape the four focus areas for the plan.

As we move through the plan, staff will monitor the work and report on the progress quarterly. Reports will be presented to the Strategic Planning, Technology and Transportation board committee and updates will be posted on the strategic plan webpage at ucpsnc.org/strategic-plan.
